Personal Coaching
“Life coaching is a relationship of interdependency between coach and client. It is a relationship based on honesty, respect and the life coach’s unwavering belief in the client’s unlimited potential”
Martin, C. (2001).The Life Coaching Handbook, Crown House publishing Ltd, Wales.
Personal coaching also known as Life coaching, is a term used a lot in today's world and is interpreted in many ways. Coaching is delivered in a non-therapeutic setting and is typically ‘non-directive’ i.e. the client has control over the direction of the session and it is not about the coach giving advice!
Coaching is applied at the personal level most often as a strategy for goal setting and achievement and at the corporate level for personnel/ team development and culture change.
Life coaching can be beneficial and could help you in every aspect of your life; whether work or business related, career, health & fitness, well-being or with relationship issues.
Common challenges and situations, for which a coach can help you, might be:
- Work/life balance
- Goal setting
- Personal development
- Creating and exploring opportunities
- Career development or change
- Decision-making
- performance enhancement
- Communication skills
- Problem solving
- Stress management
- Relationship issues at home or work
- Confidence and motivation
The main role of the coach in the coaching relationship is to enable and empower the client to bring balance and achievement, help clients define goals and work together to create strategies that enable the client to achieve these goals and get the results they want more easily.
As your coach, I will help you identify what inspires you, what your strengths are and using tools and strategies from a systems model of change, classic and positive psychology, Neuro Linguistic Programming and other coaching models; I will help you to adopt new strategies to create the results you want and can achieve.
“The coach is an expert in process and structure, the client is the expert in content”
I adopt a ‘holistic’ and non-directive approach to coaching and therefore consider every aspect of my client’s life and quality thereof (subject to their approval) to create well-balanced and specific outcomes that are right for them.
Successful coaching does require a commitment of time and energy and a willingness to succeed from both the coach and client. The rewards are however worth the investment. Invest in yourself and your future, and achieve extraordinary results.
I provide face-to-face coaching in Exeter and the South West and telephone coaching UK-wide and internationally.
All coaching is carried out in the strictest of confidence and in a professional manner.
