Hypnotherapy
What is Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy?
Hypnosis is essentially a natural and safely induced altered state of awareness. We all experience this type of natural state of mind, sometimes even several times a day, without even being conscious it!
Hypnotherapy is the practice of hypnosis in the context of therapy and aims to re-programme patterns of behaviour stored within the mind, enabling irrational fears, phobias, negative thoughts and suppressed emotions to be overcome.
When employed by a properly trained practitioner, it can be an extremely valuable therapeutic tool and dramatic changes can be achieved relatively quickly.
Hypnosis is safe, natural and very powerful.
Hypnotherapy can help you with:
- Confidence and self-esteem
- Overcoming fears and phobias e.g. flying, crowds, heights, spiders…
- Anxiety
- Public speaking and presentations
- Exam and performance nerves
- Relaxation
- Pain management
- Trauma or PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)
- Anger management
- Obsessions, compulsions and addictions
- Weight loss
- Smoking cessation
- Stammering/Stuttering & Blocking
- Personal performance in sports
Hypnotherapy can also be used as an approach to self-development and help with improving academic or sporting performance.
Hypnosis has been employed both clinically and non-clinically for a number of conditions, from simple relaxation, increasing clients’ confidence to overcoming fears and phobias and reducing pain.
What will I experience?
The experience of a hypnotic state is very subjective and each person’s response unique. It is however commonly described as being deeply relaxing and similar to day dreaming with focused attention.
while in a hypnotic state, the therapist will offer suggestions that are understood and actioned by the subconscious mind, allowing more resourceful states of mind and behaviours to emerge, and thus overcoming and replacing the less resourceful or challenging behaviours.
Is Hypnosis is safe?
Yes! The client is always in control and whilst influenced by, is never “in the power of” the practitioner. At any point during the session, the client can simply decide to stop attending to the suggestions of the therapist and terminate the session.

In contrast to conventional ‘allopathic’ medicine in which ' treatment' is generally of a specific part of the body that is ‘symptomatic’; hypnotherapy embraces the ‘holistic’ approach. Each person is treated as a unique individual.

Please note: Hypnotherapy is an effective method of therapy and complements orthodox medicine but is not a replacement for it. Proper medical advice should always be sought from your GP.
